I’m here to tell you the products that I didn’t know I needed when my motherhood journey started. While every journey is different, this is a list of things I found made my life so much easier! Long story short, if I’m at your baby shower, these are the items you will be receiving 😉
First thing’s first – AQUAPHOR!! Desitin didn’t touch my firstborns diaper rashes. Aquaphor, however, took care of all of her rashes (diaper, dry skin, cradle cap). There was no need to bother with other rash creams once I had my second-born. I still use it on myself for my dry, wintery skin (10/10 recommend using it for “slugging” 😊). Here are links for infant & regular Aquaphor. I’ve used them interchangeably – both are great on adults and babies!

Another product most moms will need: a travel bottle warmer! I swear by is the Tommee Tippee Travel Bottle Warmer. I won’t bore you with the whole story, but learn from my “first time mom” mistake: you want one before you need one. Or else you will have a very hangry baby on your hands..
This bottle warmer saved my life and several of my mom friends! Many of them got them after seeing (and using) mine while we were out and about. It kept the water warm for many hours (even into the next day). The one thing I didn’t love about my Tommee Tippee, was that it was too big to fit in any cup holders. I’ll link a slimmer version as well. Just be aware the slimmer option may not accommodate all bottles.

My best friend had this one & had great reviews! Very comparable to the Tommee Tippee Travel Bottle Warmer, but cup holder friendly.

Okay – you can skip this one if you don’t have an eczema baby 😉 but it is amazing, regardless! While Aquaphor was basically holy water for most things, Tubby Todd All Over Ointment cleared my second daughter’s eczema within a few treatments! She’s eczema prone, so we switched to the body wash as well. This was recommended to me from a family member and I’ve passed the recommendation to anyone who has struggled with eczema – it truly is magic!

Another reason I switched to Tubby Todd was the regular Johnson & Johnson baby wash was changing the color to our washcloths. Here’s the trio of the body wash & lotions!

For you nursing mamas, you will absolutely need some nipple butter. There will likely be a time you are cracked, bleeding and sore.. but this Earth Mama Nipple Balm will help, I promise. I used it through both my nursing journeys (one short, one long) and continue to use it on other areas of my body. I find it most helpful on my chapped nose & lips after a wicked cold!

SWADDLES! Velcro & zip up swaddles were serious game changers for nap and bedtime. Both were great to wrap them up tight with no worries of the blanket unwrapping and covering their faces. The Velcro ones were great because my girls loved to sleep with their arms up, so we eventually swaddled under their armpits, leaving them feeling swaddled but their hands free. This also allowed for them to be in this swaddle after they started rolling.
Because my youngest liked her arms up while she still had her startle reflex, this swaddle was the go to for her. She could sleep peacefully without fighting with the swaddle & wouldn’t wake herself up (win/win/win!!)!
